So, I'd like to make a small request for assistance from any kind readers who've found one of my tutorials helpful. If it's not too much trouble, I'd like a simple 64x64px icon preferably with rounded corners if anyone is willing to throw something quick together. Complementary colors to those currently in use of course. Pretty please? I'd be most grateful. :)

A Small Request from a not so Graphic Artist
I've made a number of attempts to create a nice custom icon for this blog and although each improved upon the last each failed to inspire or catch my eye. I'm a programmer who dabbles and works on my design skills quite often, but I've never been an artist.

If I were a graphic artist, I'd totally help you... but sadly, I'm not. :(
Figured it was a long shot, but thought I'd try ;0 I'll have to make another attempt soon I suppose.
I sooo feel your pain! I'm a business analyst who dabbles, and I've had to come up with logos for several blogsites.
One trick I've found: use an SVG editor (I use Inkscape) and search Wikimedia commons for the basic shapes (public domain versions, of course!). Then give 'em a rotate or stretch or whatever to make them unique. Of course this doesn't come up with the basic ideas, but it's certainly made it easier to get my ideas onto the screen.
Gave it another try this morning. Still not in love with it by any means, but it's better than the generic B icon I've used for my Twitter and FB accounts, I think.
Another Try
I'm not a professional graphic artist, but I love designing things, and my friends tell me I'm fairly good at it... so I'd be totally willing to try and make something for you seeing as how several of your tutorials have been very helpful for me as I'm redesigning my blog! Do you have a idea of how you'd like it to look? And the hex codes for colors would be nice too...
If you'd like to take a stab at it, I would appreciate it. The last one I came up with is so-so, US stop sign background with text. Every iteration I've tried used some combination of the letters J and S, followed by either Blog, Blog Stop or the letters B, S. I considered shortening it to my own initials only JS, but couldn't get a nice font I liked in my old graphics editor.
I wanted to try 3d interlocking JS on a gradient background with a buttonized border. I was never able to find the way to make 3d characters though :(
In so far as colors, at this point I'd like some combination of either 2 or 3(possibly the 3rd as an accent only) of #FFF, #E70 and #3B5998 since those are the dominate colors on the blog currently. Slight variance or gradients should work well.
Thanks for the offer!
Here's what I came up with. Zip with .png & .xcf files I don't know if you have GIMP installed, but I included the layered file in case you'd like to tweak something in it. The icon is 128x128px, and it should scale down just fine (a very little bit of sharpening might be wanted though). Hope it works for you. :)
Thanks for the effort IndoMK, it's most appreciated! It looks quite nice, love the 3d effect on the letters. Guess I'll reinstall GIMP or take it over to my linux partition to tweak a bit. Not sure I like it over the one I've started using on Twitter and Facebook or not, possibly better for another more personalized logo.
Thanks again,
James
Glad you like it. :) It was fun making it, and I hope you can find a use for it someplace. :)
